Construction is scheduled to be completed by January, 2017. The pool is open for the 2015 10-week swimming season and will be closed for renovation during the 2016 summer season.
The project’s $6 million cost is funded by a ½ cent sales tax ($4 million), grants ($1.5 million) and gifts ($500,000). Some of the features and costs may change once detailed surveys and plans have been completed, but these projections have been carefully considered and should be close to the mark.
Currently the Peter Kiewitt Foundation is offering a matching grant for up to $250,000! In order to receive the grant, we must raise an equal amount. Click here to view and print a brochure and pledge card.
The citizens of Chadron expressed their enthusiasm by voting for the sales tax by a nearly 2 to 1 margin. We’re looking forward to swimming, playing, healing, competing, walking and just plain having fun year-round once this project is completed. You can help by making a contribution to the pool fund via the Chadron Community Foundation, earmarking it for the pool in your check’s memo line.
We’ll keep this page updated with progress on this exciting project, so stay tuned and tell your friends!
